On April 4, 1967, exactly one year before Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated, he gave a speech at Riverside church in New York City called "Why I Oppose the War in Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence."
When Dr. King won the Nobel Peace Prize, Time Magazine called him man of the year, but they called this speech "a demagogic slander that sounded like a script for Radio Hanoi.".
Here are some other speeches from Dr.King, an item from Democracy Now radio, and a large historical speech archive.
